Last week, I asked for your help by completing a survey of what you’re most interested in learning about.
While I’m still diving into the results of the survey (fyi: there’s still time to fill it out), there are a few things I’ve already learned:
#1 You all are incredible.
After sharing the challenge I had in building a second part of my business last week, many of you responded with an incredible amount of support, a tiny bit of concern, and only 2 cold pitches of how all of my problems could be solved for a small investment of $10,000.
People emailed, texted, and called to give me encouragement, offer up advice or services, thank me for being vulnerable, and share that they had similar challenges. All of it was reminder of the incredible value of the community we’ve built.
And to those who were worried about my livelihood (hi, mom!): I’m fortunate that the speaking side of my business is still going well (I’m writing this newsletter from Colombia which will be the 36th country that I’ve spoken in after my event tonight). It was just the “stay at home” portion of my business that lost a chunk of change.
#2 We all agree humor has a lot of benefits.
Glancing through the survey results, it seems that if you’re on this newsletter (or you at least filled out the survey), you’re already aware that there are a number of benefits to learning the skill of humor.
While I wholeheartedly agree, I know that from a business perspective, I need to focus on one area first and expand from there. Luckily, of the four options I shared last week (using humor to stand out, improve communication, stress less, or build stronger relationships), there is one that seems to be the most valuable… which I’ll share once I confirm by analyzing the results a bit more next week.
In the meantime, just know that I’m already thinking of ways to be able to address more than one key benefit of humor over the next 12 months.
#3 There are a lot of lurkers.
In the first few days after the email went out, it had been opened by over 3500 people. However, there are only ~100 survey entries. So in the immortal words of Jennifer Love Hewitt in I Know What You Did Last Summer: “what are you waiting for?”
If you haven’t already, please take a few minutes to fill out the survey. There are only two required questions, plus you could find yourself with a shiny new $50 giftcard…
To everyone who has filled out the survey, and to those who will, thank you for helping shape my focus in 2025 in how to bring more levity into the world. And stay tuned next week for a deep dive into what you all had to say.

PS. On an unrelated note, one of my stand-up clips went mini-viral last weekend (currently at 2+ million views). But you’re only allowed to watch it if you’ve already filled out the survey :).
