So you mentioned in your latest post that some folks are voting for Trump and some folks are voting for Harris, but I haven't voted for someone since i was able to vote...I've always felt i had to vote against the worse of 2 really bad candidates...I would LOVE to have someone I wanted to vote for...just my $0.02

I think that's for sure a valid feeling and is how I felt when I first got old enough to vote. It's particularly hard in a two-party system, but until that changes or we move to rank-choice voting, us in the US are struck with two options.

But that's why I think it's better to focus on WHAT vs WHO. Neither candidate may inspire you much, and neither will likely deliver exactly WHAT you want. But it's probably likely that one of the candidates will take you closer to that goal (or at least keep things the same) and another will take you further from that goal.

Voting to not take a step back is just as important as voting to take a step forward. Who that is for you is up to you to decide.

I completely agree. I fear for the future of so many in our country. God help us all and may we continue to stand together as a nation and try to work together and not become more polarized. This country was built on the foundation of immigrants and the separation of church and state. Our Founding Fathers knew this, embraced it, and lived it. May we humbly return to our roots in a peaceful and respectful way.

You rock (an)drew! I appreciate your efforts in making this a conversation again, where people can agree / disagree. We will need this in the coming days, weeks and months. I am also convinced that what you do - giving humor a central place in our lives - is essential for that. If you can have a laugh and also laugh with yourself, we're already halfway there. Nevertheless, politics is also serious business so I hope the US makes the right choice which in my view is keeping close bonds with your allies in the free world, accepting people of all backgrounds into our communities, and supporting those in need.

Thank you, Tony! And I agree that humor is absolutely essential to be able to handle conversations like these.

Well said. Thank you for sharing your four themes. I agree with those. I don’t have another clearly defined “what” to add yet but it would include something about better self-care, mental health & well-being for all in our country. Our leaders influence many factors that impact stress, and I want an emotional intelligent leader that has awareness to these topics.

Andrew, so impressive that you're chiming in on this election. I believe this is the most consequential election of my lifetime. Men have had a Monopoly of being President of the United States since this country's inception - 45 men in a row. It's time to give a woman a chance. It's fair, it's right and it sends a signal to women in this country young and old that we believe in women enough to give them the opportunity to lead this great country. Since women have created all the men in this country I think letting one become President is a wonderful way of saying thanks. Robert Bostick

I think that's a great point. Representation really matters, I see that with my own daughter. She wants to be an astronaut and it's amazing for us to be able to show her women astronauts who have already made it happen.

It’s sad that we have come to the point that we are voting for the ‘lesser of two evils’. This two party system is hurting those who could potentially

Run that have new fresh ideas and goals for our country. I don’t believe either candidate is the best choice for our country but as a woman I do not chose to vote for Harris just because she is a woman. Her policies do not align with the direction of how I feel out country needs to be heading, Trump either but the economy was better and the cost of living was much less under Trump and I feel that if Harris had all these great ideas, why were they not implemented while she was in office as VP?

Thank you for sharing your perspective, Heather. I agree that many people don't feel inspired by either choice. In that case, I think it's a matter of picking who will either get you closer to your goals, or at least not take you further away.

The cost of living / economy as a whole is a tough thing to understand because a lot of the impact a president has on the economy isn't felt until years later (sometimes during, sometimes after their term). Like how you have to plant seeds in the spring for the harvest in the fall.

Regarding Harris and her ideas, the role of the VP is very different than president. And I think the same could be said of Trump during his presidency (there were lots of things he campaigned on that never happened).

But we all have to make the decision that we feel will help us the most, both in the next 4 years and the next 40 (which is why the dictator comments scare me).
